Chancellor Deaton extended audio from KOMU News on Vimeo.

In this video from KOMU, University of Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton spoke about the Big 12, the SEC and Mizzou. It doesn’t sound like Mizzou plans to stay in the Big 12.

The Chancellor wished the Big 12 “the best and all that” on reform measures designed to improve conference stability. However, it just doesn’t sound like Missouri will remain in the conference.

Also, Deaton urged fans to be patient as MU works through important issues.

“We really can’t rush these things,” Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton said. “These are things you can’t rush. I know fans get impatient I have to say I’m very sympathetic…There are some issues that have to be addressed on behalf of the University of Missouri and that’s what we’re doing.”

Deaton declined to answer if Missouri has sufficient votes from SEC presidents to join.

Though, it would be foolish to think otherwise so late in the process.

  1. I’m just not on board with Mizzou joining the conference. I would rather have Clemson, Ga Tech or Fla St. I believe they make a better fit and easier travel for all the schools. All three have natrual ravals already within the conference. I just wish one of them would make a move towards the conference.

    1. Why grab schools from states we already have pipelines in al beit; SC,GA, and FL? That is the reason we added Texas A&M for Texas and Mizzou for Missouri. Traveling isnt a problem for the SEC.

  2. I seem to be in the minority. I think Mizzou will make a great addition to the SEC. We are adding an upper-tier institution. FL. ST, Clemson, or even UNC/Duke. They would’ve been great, but we Mizzou is very good.

  3. Well obviously Mizzou is in or there is no way they would be talking like that – basically a middle finger to the BIG-12 talking about “the best and all that…” – lmao!
