The Alabama Crimson Tide faces North Texas Saturday. Coach Nick Saban talked about the upcoming game during the weekly SEC teleconference. Saban also addressed the big game between two of his former assistants–Tennessee’s and Derek Dooley faces Florida and Will Muschamp. Saban also answered a range of other questions this week from SEC writers including thoughts on freshmen speaking to the press and injury reports. The Alabama football team held a two-hour session on Wednesday at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields as it continued to prepare for its upcoming game against North Texas. The Crimson Tide and Mean Green will face off on Saturday, September 17, at 6:38 p.m. CT in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“What we have tried to emphasize this week is getting better as a team,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “We need to eliminate some of the issues and problems and things that definitely need correcting. I think the players have worked hard this week to try and do that. The most important thing is creating good habits in the way you practice. There is no switch to turn on when the game comes. That is really important.”

Earlier in the day, senior safety Mark Barron was named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week following his performance in Alabama’s 27-11 win at Penn State. Barron accumulated seven total tackles in addition to an interception and fumble recovery. He was also named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts versus the Nittany Lions.

Saturday’s game will air on Fox Sports South. Bob Rathbun will serve as the play-by-play announcer, with Tim Couch at his side as the color analyst. The two will be joined by sideline reporter Kristina Akra.

  1. I’m waiting on that eluesive 60 + 70 point game that several others such as Oregon, Arkansas and Fla St have already reached. I think Nick will pull the plug against a former Bama coach at Georgia St, so North Texas may be our only chance to put up those numbers what with Simms trying to make a statement. Don’t think the Mean Green is gonna get much of a break when the backup QB is in the game. RTR!

  2. Love this site, especially when you are spraying vitriol toward our friends at Awbun, but you should sever your relationship with the advertiser who places the obnoxious audio ads on it. I don’t find the experience as enjoyable when I have my concentration interrupted by noise I have no interest in hearing. Tnanks and Roll Tide.

  3. Man I hate all those phucking spamlike adds that pop up on here. On my cell phone I can’t just click and close like on a computer. I have to back out of them and this is the slowest loading website on the internet. It takes forever to get back from that shyt. However, you have to realize that this is a business and CR gets paid by those aggravating arzholes. Don’t think you’re gonna get much joy with your complaints dude. RTR!
