Former Alabama football players Julio Jones and Mark Ingram are two names prominently mentioned as in the running for NFL Rookie of the Year. In this video from Pro Football Weekly, watch editors discuss which rookie players could make the biggest splash this season in the NFL. Other players mentioned include Patrick Peterson and Von Miller.

Editors think New Orleans Saints rookie Mark Ingram could have the best shot of winning the award because of the offense and the chances to carry the ball in for touchdowns. “Ingram could give them the chance to be a little more rugged on the ground,” one editor said. The ground attack could really make for a more balanced attack in New Orleans. He will “be a difference maker,” one said.

Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones is also mentioned. One editor believes that Jones and Ingram play in the toughest division in football. It should be a fun battle when these teams play.

Another SEC player is mentioned in the discussion—former LSU cornerback and now Arizona corner Patrick Peterson. “I think he is going to step right in and start,” one editor said. “I think he is going to make an impact on defense and special teams” for the Arizona Cardinals.

Denver Bronco Von Miller is another name mentioned in this video discussion. His skill set should help the team. “He does everything right,” one editor in this discussion said. He already has three sacks in the preseason.

Mark Ingram has a long way to go based on last night’s performance. Fortunately, the competition won’t be anything like that again this year.

Yeah well he just might have someone playing who knows how to block when the regular season starts. Then again New Orleans has never had a running game. As good as Reggie Bush was he never did shyt with New Orleans except nearly get killed. Unless they change some things I don’t look for Mark to have a breakout year. Now Julio is an entirely different story.

Looks like it’s gonna end up being Cam Newton.
