There are new developments in the saga of Paul Finebaum v. Citadel and a potential new sports talk FM station in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Birmingham Business Journal has asked a federal court judge to unseal the lawsuit filed by Paul Finebaum against WJOX owner Citadel.

According to a Business Journal report, “The Birmingham Business Journal has filed a request with the court to unseal the case, and a court official said the judge would issue a ruling on issues in that motion Thursday. However, it was not clear if any other judgments related to the case would be rendered and the BBJ has not been notified of a ruling as of 12:30 p.m.”

This development follows on intense speculation that Finebaum could be interested in heading to a new sports talk radio station in Birmingham. Now, Radio Insight revealed the potential new sports talk station as 97.3 FM.

According to RadioInsight.com, “Cox has registered 973TheZone.com for its struggling Country ‘97.3 The Buck’ WNCB. Cox does also own AC ‘97.3 The Coast’ WFLC Miami, but that station is in no danger of flipping.”

A website is not yet available at that domain. However, the domain was created August 19 by Cox Radio Interactive of Atlanta, Georgia.
