The Alabama Crimson Tide picked up a big recruiting commitment Friday when Jacksonville, Florida native Chris Black selected Alabama over Florida State. Black made his announcement on ESPNU.

Black is ranked the third best Wide Receiver in the 2012 recruiting class by ESPN. Black is a four-star recruit, according to Scout. Rivals lists Black as a four-star player and the seventh best wide receiver in the class. The standout player is 6’0” 175 lbs. and runs a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash.

Black picked up an Alabama cap, placed it on his head and then showed houndstooth gloves with the Alabama script-A on it as he announced his commitment.

“It came down to where my heart was at, which school I was most comfortable at,” Black said. “After a lot of analyzing I’m going to Roll with the Tide.”

One big factor in Black’s decision was the prospect of making an early contribution to the Alabama receiving corps. Black indicated with contributors like Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks as seniors he feels like he could come in and be “the next explosive guy at receiver” for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Black said the most difficult part of the recruiting process is when you have to tell a coaching staff that you have selected another college.

  1. Texas QB Alec Morris committed. He’s a 3* now but he’s only a Jr. and his stats are very good, not to mention that he’s 6′-3″ and over 200 lbs. 61% completions, 6 int’s in 300 passes, 400 running yards, 30 total td’s, and over 2500 yards passing. He’ll be a 4* or better by next February, and because he’s under the radar we can keep looking for that next 1st round draft pick after Phillip Simms. RTR!

  2. Howdy! Someone in my Myspace group shared this site with us so I came to take a look.
