The Alabama Crimson Tide’s spring practice is underway, but we can start with basketball in today’s briefing. How often do we get to do that post-Wimp Sanderson?

And now Spring Practice for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. It is very early to begin to pick up many themes for this year’s team. Everyone knows the important storylines: pass rush and quarterback.

What will 2011 mean for Alabama’s pass rush? Tidesports.com explains that players know it must improve. “We need to improve our pass rush. We’ve been stopping the run here for a long time, but we’ve got to prove we can rush the passer,” said senior nose guard Josh Chapman. “We’ve got guys on the field that can. ? We don’t just want to be the run-stopping Alabama.”

One very good piece of news about Courtney Upshaw from the same report: “I feel good. The ankle isn’t giving me any problem,” Upshaw said. “I’ve been through the off-season program and it’s been good.”

Speaking of defense, BamaOnline reports, “Alabama’s revamped outside linebacker corps remained the same Wednesday as the Crimson Tide held the second day of spring practices Wednesday.Senior Jerrell Harris continued to lead the strongside linebackers through drills, while senior Courtney Upshaw obviously did the same at Jack.”

And I guess Alabama fans are interested in the quarterback competition. Here is some video via the Daily Bama Blog.
