Alabama honors its players of the week after win over Mississippi State. Here is the official release from UA:

SEVEN PLAYERS RECOGNIZED BY ALABAMA COACHING STAFF FOLLOWING MSU WIN
A total of seven Crimson Tide players were named players of the week by the Alabama coaching staff following Saturday’s victory over No. 17 Mississippi State. Marquis Maze and Chance Warmack were named on offense while Mark Barron and Robert Lester were recognized on defense. Eddie Lacy, Cade Foster and Dee Milliner received the honor on special teams. Lester was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week while Maze received honorable mention.

Maze led the team with 166 all-purpose yards Saturday, including five receptions for 89 yards. He put UA up 13-3 in the second quarter with a 45-yard catch and run. He added three punt returns for 36 yards and two kickoff returns for 41 yards. He also had an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown called back by a penalty. Warmack received the top grade on the offensive line. He did not allow a pressure or sack, and did not get called for a penalty. Alabama totaled 452 yards on offense, with 175 on the ground and 277 through the air.

Lester added two more interceptions against the Bulldogs and now has seven for the season, which is tied for the NCAA lead. He also had four tackles as the UA defense held MSU to just 299 total yards. Lester’s seven interceptions are tied for third all-time at Alabama in the single-season record books behind Hootie Ingram (10) and Harry Gilmer (8). Barron is one of the players Lester is tied with as he recorded seven picks in 2009. Barron also had an outstanding game Saturday, recording 11 total tackles. The Alabama defense has been impressive at home this season, allowing just 12 first half points and 32 total points in putting together a 5-0 mark and extending the home winning streak to 19 games.

On special teams, Lacy and Milliner each had one tackle on kickoff coverage. Foster booted a 45-yard field goal and averaged 68.7 yards on seven kickoffs with one touchback. Alabama held MSU to just three total punt return yards and an average of 16.67 yards on six kickoff returns.

Through 10 games, Julio Jones and Trent Richardson lead the team with seven appearances each. Barron is next with six appearances on the coaching staff’s player of the week list.

  1. Milliner has yet to impress me all season. Kirkpatrick should really be wearing a skirt instead of pads. He didn’t start the MSU game because he chose to run by the LSU receiver instead of attempting to make a tackle.

I really wish we had just given a scholarship to Keenan Allen’s brother so that he could be playing instead of Milliner or Kirkpatrick. But then again, Saban does things with class and integrity. He doesn’t buy recriuts.

  2. Alex, maybe if we start giving away convertible yellow corvettes we can lure a few gamers to come play in the secondary.

  3. CAM GETS 200K

BAMA PLAYERS SLOUGHING ON 100 DOLLAR FISHING TRIPS,USED COMPUTER LAPTOPS, 2K TRIPS TO MIAMI WHEN HIS MOTHER IS PASSING AWAY TO GET SOME PEACE

  5. Some of you self appointed Super Investigative Reporters need to get out there and beat the bushes and find some more shite on Camilla Neutered and sling some mud. Things are bogging down a little too much and I’m getting boored. I wanna see some blood! I’m tied up with other things right now so don’t make me have to do it myself. If I had the time I could bring ’em all down. 25 years ago as an amateur investigator I singlhandedly brought down and destroyed a multi-million dollar corporation that was the largest of it’s kind in the US. Wouldn’t mind adding the Awbren Fambuhly to my resumé. RTR!
