Remember when Auburn wasn’t implicated in all this Cam Newton stuff? Those days are over.

This new report indicates Auburn was up to something while recruiting quarterback Cam Newton.

ESPN’s Joe Schad reported: “Two sources who recruit for Mississippi State told school compliance officials in January that quarterback Cam Newton and his father each admitted in separate phone conversations that his college choice would be about money, ESPN’s Joe Schad reports. The sources said that prior to Newton’s commitment to Auburn, Cecil Newton said it would take ‘more than a scholarship’ to get his son to that school and that a third party could provide specifics.”

There is even more on ESPN. Including what is perhaps the most damning for Auburn. According to the report, “An emotional Cam Newton is said to have later called another Mississippi State recruiter to express regret over changing his commitment to the school but that his father chose Auburn because ‘the money was too much.'”

Auburn’s propaganda arm will spin this as sour grapes, but with the NCAA and now the FBI looking at this recruiting scandal things are looking bad.

  2. This is hilarious. We have a magical season where our players dig deep and bear their souls to win the National Championship and the Heisman.

    Auburn sells its soul to a scumbag and his athletic son for two months of grandeur and a lifetime of embarrassment.

    So, where in that Auburn creed does it talk about paying players?

    The interesting thing to me is that the whole keeps on getting deeper and deeper for Auburn and Scam Newton. Everytime they try to make it out that this is all sour grapes or just a rumor, more comes out. I fully expect to hear that Joe Schad is on Urban Meyer’s payroll.

    Where there is smoke, there is a conflagration. And Finebaum and anyone else that says this is nothing and those that rush to defend Sham Newton will all be humiliated when it is all entirely exposed.

  6. Dont forget. Current Capstone poster Walt Williams represented Mike Dyer to AU for a supposed sum of money. (apparently the concensus five star and EA sports athlete of the year(Soph) was unable to get himself a scholarship so he paid Williams to assist him) Are you reading this NCAA. We are supposed to believe Mike Dyer paid Walt Williams to help him get a scholarship.

    Walt Williams is a close friend of the Malzahns. When he overtures to Dyer were unsuccesful he enlisted the help of Dakota Mosely and his father. Of course once again the Mosely family had to pay Walt Williams handsomely. It was a short time later that Auburn offered the package deal. It was accepted and the infamous face book pic of Mosely waving thousands in cash was posted.

    Walt Williams is also representing AU QB recruit Keil Frazier.

    Its one thing to cheat. But being so bad at it could only be accomplished by a cow college who thinks every win is a “God Thing”…
