ALABAMA ANNOUNCES 2011 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
The 2011 Alabama football schedule was finalized Wednesday and includes seven games in the newly-expanded Bryant-Denny Stadium plus five road games, highlighted by a non-conference matchup with tradition-rich Penn State on September 10. The Crimson Tide will host Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and LSU while traveling to Florida, Mississippi, Mississippi State and Auburn in conference play next season.

The 2011 opener features Alabama head coach Nick Saban facing his alma mater, Kent State. Saban graduated from Kent State University in 1973, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business. He began his coaching career there under Don James as a graduate assistant and earned a master’s degree in sports administration in 1975.

Alabama opens league play with Arkansas on September 24 and plays five straight games against SEC competition before an open date on October 29. The Tide finishes at home against LSU, on the road at Mississippi State, and home against Georgia Southern before the final contest of the regular season at Auburn.

The 2011 SEC Championship Game is slated to be held Saturday, December 3, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

In an announcement released last week, Alabama and Michigan agreed to open the 2012 season in the “Cowboys Stadium Classic” at Cowboys Stadium on September 1, 2012.

  1. Sigh… KENT STATE? Look I understand the history with Saban and that but seriously — I am SICK and TIRED of these cream puff teams on our schedule. NORTH TEXAS?!?!?!? I mean please! This WILL NOT help our non-conference wins in the BCS formulation at all.

    Suffering through San Jose State and Duke was ENOUGH this year!

  4. Don’t be phucking rediculous! We don’t have enough players beat up and injured for you? You want to play a phucking ooc schedule as tough as the damn SEC too? It’s bad enough that we play VT, Penn St, Michigan and so on. And by the way – the teams I just mentioned and every other top 25 team plays just as many if not more creampuffs than we do. RTR!

  9. Well given the fact that none of their offensive line will be returning, I would say anyone of these teams will shut out the barn next year.
