I suppose that I should stop looking at pictures of hot girls and post something about football.

ALABAMA COACHING STAFF NAMES PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Trent Richardson, D.J. Fluker, Mark Barron, Robert Lester and Julio Jones were named players of the week by the Alabama coaching staff following the Crimson Tide’s 24-3 victory over Penn State. Richardson was also listed as the co-offensive SEC Player of the Week while Barron was recognized as honorable mention as a defensive nominee.

Richardson rushed for a career-high 144 yards on 22 carries with one touchdown Saturday. He finished with 207 all-purpose yards after catching four passes for 46 yards and returning one kickoff for 17 yards. Richardson, who had 102 yards at the half, was the first player to rush for 100+ yards against Penn State since Iowa’s Shonn Greene on November 8, 2008 – a string of 17 games which was the third-longest in the country. Helping to clear the way for Richardson was right tackle D.J. Fluker, who was the second offensive player named. Fluker did not allow a sack or pressure, and did not get called for any penalties as the Alabama offense totaled 409 yards.

Defensively, safety Mark Barron was recognized as he totaled six tackles (four solo) with a forced fumble and an interception. His forced fumble stopped a Penn State drive deep in Alabama territory in the second quarter and completely flipped the field to force an eventual punt. Fellow safety Robert Lester was the second selection after five tackles (three solo), an 89-yard fumble return and an interception. Alabama’s defense leads the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 3.0 points per game.

Julio Jones was very active on special teams as he served on the punt return and kickoff return teams while also working as one of the gunners on the punt team. In addition, Jones recovered a Penn State onside kick as a member of the hands team. He added four catches for 49 yards.

This is the second appearance as a coaching staff player of the week in as many games for Richardson, Jones and Barron.
