There were many interesting stories coming out of SEC Media Days.
However, nothing tops what was going on out in San Diego.

Wow. I’m so going to Comic Con next year.

On to some interesting links for today.
First, Kevin Scarbinsky can be worth reading at times. Sunday’s column was one of those times. He examines the challenge Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban faces with his team in 2010. Can Saban overcome the championship hangover? If Alabama can’t, what does that mean for Saban’s tenure in Tuscaloosa? Sure, Scarbinsky tries a little scare to generate interest, but the theme is important. Oh, and this line was good too, “I’m not saying Saban is going to leave Alabama if Alabama doesn’t repeat because he scratched that NFL itch and came away with a rash.”

Best line of SEC Media Days?
Joe Biddle of the Tennessean has a nominee, “Best line of SEC Media Days came from Memphis columnist Ron Higgins: ‘Vanderbilt lost its football coach and hired Larry the Cable Guy.’”

Ole Miss & Masoli
The Commercial-Appeal informs us that “Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt confirmed Monday that former University of Oregon starting quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who was kicked off the Ducks team June 9 after his second arrest in six months, has sent Ole Miss his scholarship release papers from Oregon.” However, Blutarsky questions how this will work with the SEC rule on transfers. (Rule 14.5.5.9). Of course, the key here is probably interpretation of the rule, but it is a short requirement: “Have at least two seasons of competition remaining.” It isn’t eligibility, but competition. For the lawyers out there is that word choice important?

From Bryant to Saban
Tidesports.com has a nice feature up on the post-Bryant era. You can read about the Ray Perkins time here.

A couple of teasers. In case you missed ITK’s interview with the makers of the Nick Saban film, Gamechangers, then you can view it here. Also, if there is something you want to talk about beyond comments then you can start your conversation in the new forums. The forum is better integrated with the main blog. Also, per a user request, we include a recent comments list in the sidebar.
