ESPN’s Chris Low provided this interesting tidbit on recruiting in a post about Arkasnas’s recruiting efforts.

Low writes, “Over the last four years, there have been a total of eight ESPNU 150 prospects to come out of the state of Arkansas, which dates back to the 2008 signing class. Counting Cook and Smothers, the Hogs have gotten six of the eight under Petrino.

“As a comparison, the state of Alabama has produced 25 ESPNU 150 prospects from 2008-2011. Alabama landed 15 of those players and Auburn got two, which includes the players committed for the 2011 class. The state of Louisiana produced 19 ESPNU 150 prospects during that same span, and LSU was able to get 11 of them.”

  1. well ITK thats awbrum logic at its best,a similar example could be hiring a 5-19 coach who goes 3-5 in the conference his first year and still be excited about his hiring, go figure

  2. Yes, that sux if your an Auburn fan…But with Chiziks first full recruiting year, he signed 7 ESPN 150 players across te board compared to Bamas 9. Its not nearly as wide a margin when you look at the rest of the country and not just the state.

Though getting the in state prospects is something he is going to have to get better at , and quick.
