From the AP: “University of Texas regents will meet next week to decide whether the Longhorns will remain in the Big 12 or switch to another conference. The regents announced Friday that they will hold a meeting by telephone Tuesday for ‘discussion and appropriate action regarding athletic conference membership.'”

The big question is what does this mean for Texas A&M and Oklahoma? Will those schools follow Texas or will they take their own path? The most shocking story in this entire process is the influence Texas has over schools like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M. It would be unfathomable for schools in the SEC to allow a rival to set the agenda. Even smaller schools like Vanderbilt and Mississippi State would have more backbone than some of those Big XII schools.

  1. Texas has had the biggest payroll in CFB for years and still couldnt come close to hangin with a real SEC team. Why would they ever consider coming to the SEC ? They wont.

  2. Bullshit Beeper. Texas and Oklahoma would be permanently in the SEC’s top 6 with Bama, Florida, Georgia and LSU, and that’s before they adopt our style of football. Damn, there’s more new threads started daily this week than Iron Bowl week. Love it, and we also have the super regionals and the World Cup. Hot dang. RTR!

  3. Yeah – there is no way Texas would even consider the SEC – it would threaten their program on multiple factors. They obviously want to be the big dogs in a shorty conference like the PAC10 to get an automatic bid every year and to have a shot at the NC.
