I was going to vote for Bradley Byrne. He stood up to the corrupt practices in the two-year college system; he took on Paul Hubbert and the AEA—which to my mind is as noble an action as standing up to the Soviet Union.

However, Byrne’s startling revelation on the Paul Finebaum Radio Network that he is married to an Auburn fan and supports Auburn when they are not playing Alabama has forced me to reconsider my vote.

On the positive side, Paul Hubbert hates him. On the negative side he says nice things about Gene Chizik.

Which is the greater evil?

I’m not sure.

Maybe I’ll just vote for the “Democrat” Party. There is a first time for everything.

  1. Same here. I don’t like a politician who panders(and I know they all pander), but he was absolutely shameless. FB asked him who the best coach was between Saban and Chiznick, and he praised Chiznick to high heaven. Never really answered the question. And he pulls for Auburn except when they play Bama? Give me a break. It was an embarrassing performance. As for who’s worse between Paul Hubbert and Chiznick, there’s no comparison. Paul Hubbert is the devil, and has single-handedly helped destroy education in this state. Chiznick is harmless. In 2-3 yrs he’ll be gone and Auburn will hire another clown, which will then result in Kevin Scarbinsky kissing his ass.

  2. He is a complete total stooge for the Business Council of Alabama.
His biggest Contributor is Jimmy Rane. The rest is from the Corporate Community.

  3. The Scarbinsky kisse no one’s ass. I call it fair and square.
    Coming soon.
Kevin Scarbinsky’s preseason SEC power ratings. Whos a contender and who’s not.

  4. Pluto, better to be sponsored by the Business Council, who supports low taxes and much needed tort reform than to be bought and paid for by the trial lawyers and AEA union members. Like Neal Bortz says, the AEA and NEA have done so much damage to our children’s education they should be considered a terrorist group.

  5. Kevin, you’re such a barn homer that your lips have to be surgically removed from Chiznick and Troopa’s ass every night.

  6. Bryne is a socialist liberal democrat! On the most serious point…..Bryne stated (revealed his true self) he will propose the teaching of the Godless lie theory of Evolution in our schools!

Bryne is Anti-God…anti-American and very WRONG and bad for leadership of Alabama!

Tim James or Roy Moore are the only candidates worth voting for!

  7. The Sadder Truth is that all of them are not worth a bag of pennies in Shit Creek. Why don’t you ask yourself an rhetorical question – ” Who is the Best Qualified Individual in this State to be Governor “? ” Take your time. It is extremely taxing and may be unanswerable.
The Next Governor will likely face what your Depression Governor – Benjamin Miller – was facing… in another time and context – but eerily similar.
No Money and trying to maintain what little we’ve got.

  8. Byrne is the obvious choice. The AEA and NEA are the socialist left. They are the left wing of the Democratic party. Yes, anyone who is an enemy of my enemy is my friend.

My wife is a school teacher, and they have the little lady so brainwashed , she honostly believes she cant keep her job unless she is a member.

And believe me people , Ive begged and pleaded with her to get out of that crap. They have these sheeplike teachers under the impression that they cant exist , or keep their jobs without these dumbasses “representin” them in Montgomery and Washington.

My wife gets the AEA newsletter monthly. You honostly would not believe the B.S. these liars print. Every story is anti conservative, anti Republican.

Every story tells some Bullcrap about how they saved some more jobs for some helpless teachers, and kept funds from being stolen by these evil conservatives.

They think Bob Riley is the antichrist.

And that makes you think. If thwy dont like him, he must have done a pretty good job.

  9. Bob Riley is the Antichrist! WTH has he gotten done while he’s been in office other than shut the bingo parlor’s down? Bradly Byrne is his handpicked successor so lets have 4 more years of incompetence in the governor’s office. Answer one question for me all of you Byrne supporters: Tell me what specific corruption that AEA did that Byrne stand up to? Byrne’s bark is a lot stronger than his bite.

  10. You arent worth responding to bushusux……Your a pinko, coommie, flaming homo , lib……

Satan himself could run under the deocrat ticket and people like you would still vote for him.

  11. BPI,

I’m more conservative than you’d ever imagine. I asked one simple question. What specific corruption did Byrne stop? Or you could continue to use names as your defense which is the sign of inferior intelligence.

  12. What I liked about Byrne was his efforts to end double-dipping. It IS corrupt for a state legislator to work for the state government…he would basically vote for the appropriations for his employer. That is a conflict of interest.

Byrne fought it. The AEA tried to keep it.

  13. Capstone,

How can it be double dipping if the people are elected? All the people have to do is not vote them in. So you are saying that education employees should not be allowed to run for office? By the way, the supreme court ruled that it is legal. Byrne has done a lot of things to grab headlines and nothing else. He is Bingo Bob junior.

  14. I meant vote them out if they aren’t pleased or don’t like it. It is unconstitutional to prohibit an individual from running for office.

  15. Umm, what? You are wrong.

From al.com May 29, 2009: The Alabama Supreme Court, reversing a lower court, today upheld the state Board of Education’s policy against so-called “double-dipping” by state legislators. (link: http://blog.al.com/breaking/2009/05/state_court_upholds_doubledipp.html )

Now a circuit court judge ruled against it last week, but it will end up at the Supreme Court again.

A person can run for office, but should NOT continue to be employed by the state if elected. It is immoral.

  16. And let me ask you this. A person is elected a judge.

This judge owns a company. His company injures you.

The company is sued by you.

Would you want that judge presiding over your case?

  17. And why do all libs have an erection for gambling ? Cant you see by the proven track record in this state that there is no way in haaaaaayyyyellll that it could ever happen and not be corrupt to the point of being another rediculous joke / black eye for the state ? Look at Larry freekin Langford…….Look at the rest of the corruption that is just now comming out with some of the house members and lobbyists….Gambling cant do any thing good for Alabama.

Riley took a stand against this corruption. He did most of this in the second term. It wasnt something he ran on as a mandate… What got him elected was financial reform …Of wich he did a decent job considering the mess he inherited, and then the mess the lib feds put on all of us …

Go ahead and tell me the crap about how the Miss. lobbyists bought Riley off.

If there were any shred of evidence that it were true , he would be in prison already with your boy Siegalman…….Oh yeah…..Member him ? the last lib Gov. that our fair state put into office under the “gambling” mandate ?

That one turned out real well for ya didnt it ?

  18. And cap…..Double dipping is wrong on more than that level alone. It is also unfair to us , the taxpayer, to pay a man for doing two jobs , when he is really only doing one.

  19. Not to mention Byrne actually had some political background.. Just being in the business world and having a governor as a daddy doesn’t make you governor material.. Hate to say it but it is the truth.

  20. Quote>>>> “Look at the rest of the corruption that is just now comming out with some of the house members and lobbyists….Gambling cant do any thing good for Alabama.

    I COMPLETELY AGREE, BPI.
    Gambling breeds horrible, dirty CORRUPTION.
