Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban was presented the Bobby Bowden Coach of the Year Award Sunday evening. According to a report, “Saban received the award from the Over the Mountain Touchdown Club of Birmingham on Sunday with former FSU coach Bobby Bowden, a Birmingham native, in attendance. ‘It’s hard for me to think that there’s a coach in the country right now better qualified than him, and his record shows it,’ Bowden said of Saban, who won the national title and a school-record 14 games.”

  1. I wonder what Bobby Bowden could have done as head coach at
Alabama. I bet he would have won a couple of NC and beat the
cow college like a the red headed step child like the program is
    in this state!! RTR

  2. Said it a million times…not hiring Bowden was the biggest mistake in the history of Alabama football (and I fully acknowledge the boldness of that statement.) Bowden would have been a powerhouse in the late 80’s and the 90’s.

He wouldn’t have dominated AU, but AU certainly wouldn’t have racked up 4 in a row to end the 80’s. It would have been intense watching Bowden go against Dye’s teams from the late 80’s.
