Spring practice is underway. And Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban seemed pleased with the Alabama football team’s attitude and offseason work.

“We made progress with a lot of guys,” Saban said. “The spirit and attitude was very good in practice today.”

And this was an extension of the focus during the fourth quarter conditioning program.

“I think the conditioning of the team was pretty good,” said Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban. “The spirit was good. The attitude was good. A lot of guys worked hard. I was really pleased with the starting point we have as a team.”

Saban pointed to three themes to watch for during spring drills. He said one thing he wants to see is improvement throughout the spring. Another important thing will be for this year’s Alabama team to develop its own identity. He said this has to be independent of the past. Also, he cautioned fans and the media about the depth chart. He once again warned that there is no depth chart. “Don’t read too much into who is playing with what team,” Saban said.

Interesting personnel notes: Terry Grant is not coming back for fifth year. He had another year of eligibility, but won’t be taking advantage of it. Likewise, Travis Sikes is not coming back for fifth year. Robby Green was excused today for personal reasons. He will be able to practice, Saban said.
