This just arrived in my email:

PLAYING FIELD SOD FROM BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT ROSE BOWL TO BE SECTIONED AND SOLD AS ULTIMATE GAME-USED COLLECTIBLE

Stadium Associates In Rights Deal for Exclusive, First-Time Opportunity

End Zones, Logo and Specific Play Location Sod — such as spot of Marcell Dareus Interception — Will Also be Available
Cranbury, NJ – Sod from the actual playing surface of the BCS National Championship Game will be made available to football fans as a game-used collectible for the first time this year.

The sod, freshly installed for last night’s meeting to decide the national championship between The University of Texas and The University of Alabama, was used only once – for this historic game, which features two unbeaten teams, the Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram of Alabama .

Alabama’s 37-21 victory made them national champions and preserved an undefeated, 14-0 season.

At the conclusion of the game, the painted end zones and the BCS logs are being carefully removed by Stadium Associates, LLC and preserved for fans forever. (The exact section of the field where Marcell Dareus intercepted Garrett Gilbert’s shovel pass just before halftime will also be made available, along with other great plays of the game by both teams). This will be the second such removal and preservation that Stadium Associates has coordinated recently. ”We understand sod and take very special care to preserve this live plant material much like you would flowers from a wedding”, said David Galbraith, Vice President of Operations and Founder at Stadium Associates.

Galbraith added, “It takes many weeks to remove all the moisture and then prepare the 3” x 3” piece of history. When we are done though, this piece of history will last forever just like you see in museums”. Each collectible will be encased in a UV glass top display case marked with the description of the event. Each piece will include The Collegiate Licensing Company’s “Officially Licensed Collegiate Products” hologram verifying its authenticity along with game details.

Stadium Associates will be gifting the first 100 pieces to the athletic departments at schools for their own distribution.

Now Crimson Tide fans can own a piece of the University of Alabama ’s perfect season and BCS National Championship Game field. Never before have fans been able to own a piece of the game and now thousands of Crimson Tide fans can preserve this incredible game and memories for ever.

Sod from each end zone and the BSC logos at the 50 yard line and 30 yard lines will be available for $99.99 each (plus S & H). Fans who want the complete set of a piece of each end zone and the BCS logo can buy this combination of one each for $249.00 while supplies last at www.stadiumassociates.com. (Allow 6-8 weeks for the freeze dried process and encasement) Quantity of special play sod has not been determined and will be priced when made available.

The items will be marketed by Stadium Associates, the company that is the Major League Baseball Authentic Collection Team Sod™ licensee and who will this spring make Game-Used Phillies Sod™ available through exclusive arrangements with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Stadium Associates launched the concept of Licensed Sod with Major League Baseball and New York Yankees Sod™ in early 2009 and was featured as a Sunday, page one story in the New York Times March 22, 2009.

Stadium Associates is fully licensed by The Collegiate Licensing Company, an IMG Company, and is the exclusive vendor for Game-Used Sod from The Rose Bowl Stadium.

  1. I hear the BCS Trophy is going to be displayed at Walmart; you just can’t make this stuff up.

What are you Morons going to do; wrap it in toilet paper and stack boxes of Tide around it? Here’s an idea, put it in the book/magazine section; this is the least busy place in the store since Bammer Morons can’t read!

The Bammer grads stocking shelves at Walmart can see it on their smoke break and have a picture taken beside it so they can buy a fram and give the picture to momma for Mother’s Day. I bet the Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys will get years of material from this!!

  2. The Crimson Turd Morons who make a purchase of the turf should be sent the areas where Bevo took a shit!

  3. I think the “turf” thing is a little too much for the “Alabama room” around the pool table in the man cave. Just a little ridiculous in my opinion. I know it’s been 17 years but geez…

  4. You might be a jealous little bitch if you keep whinning about your rival three months after your heart was ripped out and spiked to the ground while it still beat.

    Fuck you Innni Vol.

Why don’t you come to the Wal-Mart and say all this shit to Bama fans faces? You can pick up your Midol while you’re there.

  5. You might be a moron if your school can’t win a championship of ANY kind but attempt to take shots at THE National Champions. What an imbecil.
