On a Hallowed hill in Tennessee
Like Beacon shining bright

This time it wasn’t Lane Kiffin or the football players embarrassing the University of Tennessee and its fans. This time Bruce Pearl’s guys are doing it.

According to Heather Harrington of Knoxville’s Sports Animal (via twitter), “Just confirmed from KPD officials four UT mens basketball players arrested on marajuana possession charges and weapons charges. KPD source confirmed the players are Melvin Goins, Tyler Smith, Cameron Tatum and Brian Williams… #volsarrested.”

“The players are facing misdemeanor weapon and drug charges, according to a source with knowledge of the situation,” according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

This highlights the lawless culture present throughout the Volunteer athletic department. From HOstesses to arrests to Lane Kiffin, there are some important questions for Volunteer fans to answer.

Is it any shock that the NCAA has investigated the recruiting practices in Knoxville? How long can Tennessee’s athletic director hold his job when you have systemic problems throughout your athletic department?

Can Tennessee do anything to stop the perception that Knoxville has become the new Miami?

These arrests following the football player arrests and the embarrassing actions of Lane Kiffin have dimmed the shining Beacon on that hill. The Volunteers are a disgrace to the SEC. Cleanup your program before the conference office is forced to do it for you.

  1. Orange Moron Nation ! Orange Tuds!
    damn. forgot.
    HOOK EM” SLIVE !

  2. Sounds like this writer(if that’s what you want to call him)has been feeding off the Tiger Woods headlines. First, and most obvious, it’s a little too early to be throwing these young men under the bus. Second, there’s no way ANYONE can know ALL of the circumstances surrounding this situation, or any previous situation that the University has faced. Everyone is so quick to judge nowadays. Might I remind you that perfect people do not exist… not at the University of Tennessee, not writing this message, and most definitely not in your mirror.

  3. Well Sir. I guess the Police Report was just another damn lie.
The Truth may be in what the Vol Fan that Matters – sees in the Mirror.

  4. In response to Pluto:
First… I am not a Sir. I am a young woman. Second… It seems you are another self-righteous individual who, in their vast and infinite wisdom, has decided to pass judgement on me. Third… I am not a Volunteer fan. I am simply someone who finds it funny that ordinary, everyday people like yourself seem to find it empowering to play judge and jury, especially in a situation where you don’t have ALL the facts, or know any of the individuals personally. I never said a word about innocence or guilt, nor did I try to paint myself as an angel. Yet, you gave such inspiring insight in your statement, and all you really managed to do was prove my point. Next time, try giving an opinion instead of taking an unsuccessful stab at an insult. You might sound a little more intelligent in doing so, but I don’t want to give you too much credit. And btw… I attend the University of Alabama.

  5. from “govols.com”:

“It could not be determined if the driver and passengers were under the influence of marijuana or not, although the strong odor indicated that marijuana had been recently smoked in the car,”

anybody ever hear of a drug test? and where i come from, if you refuse a test you’re assumed guilty. of course, i don’t come from knoxville.

    t. j., whether you are male or female, attend the capstone or not matters not to me, you’re an idiot.

consider the charges: (again from “govols.com”)

“Tatum, 21, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and having an open container of alcohol.”

“Smith, 23, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of firearm with an altered serial number.”

(uh oh, we found us a “throw down”)

“Goins, 22, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana, a schedule VI drug.”

“Williams, 22, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and possession of marijuana.”

    (wow, another “throw down”!)

driving, drinking, smoking dope and in possession of guns with s/n’s ground off.

    next? the “drive by”.

(for those of you currently claiming to be naive female students at alabama, a “throw down’s” a weapon thugs and gangbangers dispose of after shooting someone, say, in a “drive by” by throwing down at the scene.)

(“drive by”: an action thugs and gangbangers engage in, generally under the influence of alcohol or drugs – like marijuana – involving multiple “playas” in a moving vehicle shooting at, but not necessarily confined to, other thugs and gang bangers. this is a illegal action innocent bystanders can and typically do get injured and killed in t. j.)

no, you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover but it’s a damned good practice for getting old, eh pluto??

  6. I would suppose that this must feel like a broken coke bottle in Indiana Vol’s rectal cavity. Sorry Volly.
I hope you and Fat Phil have a happy new year and a successful marriage too.

  7. T.J. – you still a Crimson Tud !
But you sure smell like a orange blossom TUD ! I smell you anyday!
    HOOK EM” SLIVE !

  8. T.J. is short for “Lacey Earps”

I can hear those giant hoop earrings banging against a headboard now.

  9. WOW… It’s like I’ve got you all on a leash. Didn’t your mother’s teach you not to be gullible??? Once again, thanks for proving my initial point 🙂

  10. The only thing you proved is that you are stupid and naive.
I think they call it “preponderance of evidence”.

  11. Nice try Pluto… your irreverant stab at intelligence is kinda cute. I’m pretty sure you had to click on the ol’ spellcheck tab for that one, huh? I look forward to your next comment. *Kiss*
