Alabama’s JaMychal Green was named the SEC Player of the Week after he had 27 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and a steal in a victory over Mercer last week. Green, who played just 26 minutes against the Bears, scored 10 of his career-high 27 points during an impressive 22-2 run that opened the game for Alabama. He made all of his seven first half field goals attempts and finished 11-of-15 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. Seven of his 13 rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor, leading to nine second chance points. It marked his third double-double of the season and the 10th of his career.

SEC Freshman Of The Week
DeMarcus Cousins

Kentucky’s DeMarcus Cousins was named SEC Freshman of the Week after he averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in leading the Wildcats to wins over Drexel and Long Beach State. Cousins had 33 points and 23 rebounds in only 27 minutes on the week. He recorded 18 points and 13 rebounds in only 14 minutes in Kentucky’s historic 2,000th win over Drexel. He then had 15 points and 10 rebounds in only 13 minutes of UK’s win over Long Beach State. It was his sixth double-double of the season. Cousins, who dished out career high three assists against LBSU, has hit 22 of last 23 free throws. He had a streak of 22 consecutive free throws made come to an end against the 49ers.
