AP: No. 1 Alabama places 6 on AP All-America team, including Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram

Alabama will bring a lineup powered by All-Americans into the BCS national championship game.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide had six players, including Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, voted to The Associated Press All-America team released Tuesday — more than any other school.

Ingram was a unanimous first-team selection, as was linebacker Rolando McClain. Defensive tackle Terrence Cody was selected for the second consecutive season. Cornerback Javier Arenas, guard Michael Johnson and kicker Leigh Tiffin were also first-teamers.

…the Longhorns three players on the first team, second only to Alabama.

The Crimson Tide and Longhorns play in the BCS national championship game at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 7.

Alabama safety Mark Barron made the third-team, giving the Tide seven players who received AP All-America honors. Texas put three players — kicker Hunter Lawrence, center Chris Hall and linebacker Sergio Kindle — on the third team for a total of six overall.

Florida also had six players make the three teams, including cornerback Joe Haden and tight end Aaron Hernandez as first-teamers.

The SEC was the most represented conference on the first team, with 11 players, including Tennessee safety Eric Berry, South Carolina linebacker Eric Norwood and Georgia punter Drew Butler. (read much more in the entire AP story posted here at the Capstone Report.

  1. Where are the barn players? They won 7 games this year. Should have placed at least a couple on the AA team. It must suck to be a barner right now. LOL

  2. 25% of the AA team is from Bama! Bring on the New Orleans Saints! RTR!

  3. Where’s the BIG 10 (I mean 11)?!?! 1 player in the 1st team?!? It’s time for the Big 10 to start negotiations with the Big East to add Pitt to the schedule for a conference game.

These pieces of shits in the BIG 10 get an automatic Rose Bowl bid right now when sometimes the teams that go DON’T EVEN DESERVE IT!!! — just my take — what ‘cha think my community?

  4. (cont.) adding to that — I’m pretty sure the BIG East could drop Pitt PLUS a shitty team that will never have a future as a DIV-I team. Talk on…

  5. I am really upset. I saw Tate on the heisman voting and the AA team. Apparently “Big Ben” (as some call him has changed his name to “Golden” and there was a typo about position and school.
They need to clear these typos and mistakes up!

  6. BTW I have posted one time on TET in my entire life.
It was a very civil post.
And I am banned from commenting ever again.
What a bunch of communist pinko, free speech (as long as you say what we want you to say) jackasses.
Of course isnt that the way it goes? If you dont say 100% pro -Auburn things on Auburn blogs (read the Auburn PR party line du jour,) They will censor you.
It must really suck to be so narrow minded and pathetically myopic.
Maybe that is the reason why Auburn is the Gilbert Gottfreid of success stories. Always there, always whinning, always having the channel changed for anything else worth watching…..

  7. I am watching you. Be a good man and stay focused at the task at hand. Don’t dwell in pain. You shall be exhaulted to the hills of Mt Zion (ame)

  8. I completely understand McClain, Ingram and Arenas. Even more so, the NFL will show their concurrence in the first round of the NFL draft next year. I will never understand how a DT that only plays in running situations and on field goals gets picked to be a consensus AA. ESPN did an analysis of Cody during the 4 game SEC stretch in October, and found that he only played in 122 of 281 offensive plays. Don’t get me wrong, he’s great at plugging a gap b/c of his size. But the guy only had 25 tackles all season. And he’s the best DT in the country???

I really don’t get Tiffin, either. He’s good, no doubt. But he also missed 3 extra points this year. How can you call a guy who misses 3 extra pts in one seson an AA??

  9. I think Tiffin has missed 3 times this year — one for the extra in the Florida game and 2 for 3 pointers I think in the Tennessee game and the Arkansas game??? Can’t remember — but he hasn’t missed a lot — I’m not a stat guy and never will be.

Cody is on there because he is Mt. Cody — simple as that — take the stat equation out — that’s the only reason why — he’s Mount Cody.
