Tough-running Ingram completes Alabama’s trophy case, becoming 1st Tide player to win Heisman

Mark Ingram completed the trophy case at Alabama, delivering the first Heisman to a school that boasts one of the richest histories in college football.

The tough-running sophomore tailback won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night in the award’s closest vote. Next, he’ll try to lead the most storied program in the South to a national championship.

Ingram finished ahead of Toby Gerhart of Stanford.

  2. Nothing to say but congratulations to a very deserving young man. He’s a great story of overcoming adversity, and he’s the embodiment of everything that’s great about college football. Saban pulled off a coup when he used the family connection to get that kid to Bama. Congrats again.

    P.S. Don’t think this means that I like any of you bammers in the slightest, or that I’m gonna start being nice in here. There’s your one annual compliment. Hook em horns.

  4. As a true Auburn fan, its not something that I like seeing Alabama do well at anything. Yes , even the Heisman race…But as I was watching Ingram being interveiwed during the awards ceremony I noticed that this was a very humble kid. Then when he won the thing I actually was glad he did. What a classy kid….Not an egeo in the slightest. Very appriciative and gracious…He represented you guys very well.
