Alabama practiced indoors against yesterday due to the weather.

“We’ve worked indoors, really more because of the weather more than anything else,” Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. “We’re playing inside, so why not. The weather is bad outside, which it has been two out of the last three days and the fields were wet the other day, so that’s basically what we’re doing.”

And Saban said practice has gone well this week.

“Practice has gone fairly well,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said following Wednesday’s practice. “Florida is a very difficult preparation. They do a lot of things. They have a lot of great players. Our players have had pretty good focus and we are solving more problems every day.

“Our players have done a great job of creating an opportunity for themselves relative to what they have accomplished this season and what they have an opportunity to do playing, if not the best team in the country, certainly one of the best teams in the country. It’s a challenge and everybody is really looking forward to it. It’s a great competitive venue to be involved in and I think that our players are looking forward to it.”

Alabama sophomore running back Mark Ingram is one of five finalists for the 2009 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced Wednesday.

Ingram is joined by Houston quarterback Case Keenum, Texas quarterback Colt McCoy, Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow as this year’s finalists. The winner will be announced during the 6 p.m. (ET) edition of ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday, Dec. 10. The winner will receive the 2009 Walter Camp Trophy at the foundation’s annual banquet on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.

Ingram is also a finalist for the Doak Walker Award and Maxwell Trophy. The Doak Walker award is presented the best running back in college football, while the Maxwell Trophy goes to the best player in college football.

In 12 games this season, Ingram has 221 rushing attempts for 1,429 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is second in the SEC and 11th nationally with 119.08 rushing yards per game this season. He also averages 6.5 yards per carry and had an incredible 7.1 yards per carry in the month of October against the likes of Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee.

He has added 28 catches for 246 yards and three touchdowns and has accounted for 1,675 all-purpose yards this season, an average of 139.6 yards per game.

Ingram needs 43 yards to break Bobby Humphrey’s single-season record of 1,471 yards set during the 1986 season. Against top 25 teams, Ingram is averaging 178 yards per game in wins over Virginia Tech, Mississippi, South Carolina and LSU.

He was named SEC Player of the Week following wins over Virginia Tech and South Carolina. In the win over the Gamecocks, Ingram set a Bryant-Denny Stadium record with 246 rushing yards in the 20-6 victory. He was also named a midseason All-American by The Sporting News.

  1. Certainly pressuring Lord Tebow and reducing his efffctiveness would be major. But there’s another key just as important. I read another comparison done by 4 SEC assisstant coaches anonomously. One asshole said that McElroy was not a good QB. This fuck has to be from either UcheaT or the Lame Cocks, Mac’s 2 worst games. But sentiments around the country from fan bases are about the same – especially from Texas. I think Mac is just as big a key as Tebow. And anyone who thinks he isn’t a great QB is full of shit. Check this out: In 6 common SEC opponents (which include Mac’s 4 WORST games) here are the stats.- Completion rate Mac 92/141 for 65.25%, Tebow 73/119 for 61.34%, Passing yards Mac 1,484, Tebow 1,305, TD passes Mac 11, Tebow 7, Interceptions Mac 3, Tebow 4. Points scored Bama 160, Florida 153, Points allowed Bama 61, Florida 76. If you just arrived from another planet, who would you think is the best team and has the Heisman QB? These stats do not lie. They are from same opponents in same venues. RTR!
