An interesting quote from the AP Story embedded here: “By season’s end, Hilton pulled off a rarity: He scored touchdowns five different ways — passing, receiving, rushing, kickoff return and punt return. According to STATS LLC, only five other players this decade (Steve Breaston and Patrick Cobbs in 2003, Louis Rankin in 2007 and Graig Cooper and C.J. Spiller last season) have scored touchdowns four ways in a single season, but none of those could match Hilton’s five-way feat.

“Hilton is as good a player as anybody in the country,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said. “I think he was way up there in all-purpose yards or led the country in all-purpose yards last year.”

The NCAA actually listed Hilton third in all-purpose running last season at 180.25 yards per game, behind only Missouri’s Jeremy Maclin and California’s Jahvid Best. Out of the top 40 players in that category last season, no one had a higher yards-per-play average than Hilton, who accounted for a dizzying 20 yards every time he touched the football.

“His performances were Heisman-caliber,” FIU quarterback Paul McCall said. “Look at the stats. They don’t lie. And it’s nice to have that attention, because it’s due. Just because we’re FIU and not the biggest program out there, it’s time to start looking because we’ve got guys here who are able to compete on a national level.” (read the entire story embedded in this post.)
