Following Alabama’s practice Tuesday, UA released a statement from Alabama Crimson Tide football player Lorenzo Washington about the shooting of teammate Brandon Deaderick. Here is the info from UA:

Alabama senior defensive lineman Lorenzo Washington commented on fellow senior lineman Brandon Deaderick, who was released from the hospital and attended practice briefly Tuesday afternoon.

“It’s an unfortunate thing that happened for one of our brothers to go down like that,” Washington said following practice. “He is going to get through this and we are going to help him get through it all and he is going to make a full recovery.

“We are a close-knit unit anyway, but a situation like this brings people closer together. When something happens to an Alabama football player word spreads pretty quick. We all went over there to see him this morning. It’s pretty crazy what happened. I’m just happy he is alive. He could have been gone. He is real lucky. I know that God blessed him and got him through that.”

No. 5 Alabama will meet No. 7 Virginia Tech in the 2009 Chick-Fil-A College Kickoff Classic at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The game will be nationally televised by ABC Sports with kick off just after 7 p.m. (CST).
