The University of Alabama and Auburn University earned a grade of B in a survey of academic rigor. According to the Birmingham News, “The study by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni gave both schools B’s in its report, released last week. It examined the curricula at 100 colleges and universities, and awarded just five A’s.”

So, what schools earned an A? Good question. According to the What Will They Learn website, Baylor University, City University of New York – Brooklyn College, City University of New York – Hunter College, Texas A&M University, United States Military Academy, University of Arkansas, and the University of Texas – Austin.

So, what schools underperformed? The big ones like Yale. According to the Birmingham News, “The top liberal arts colleges have allowed their general education curricula to deteriorate,” the study said. “These schools are in effect leaving it up to students to figure out what they will need — and families are paying dearly for the privilege of a do-it-yourself education.”
