REPORT from the Rap Sheet: “Virginia Commonwealth basketball coach Anthony Grant can have the University of Alabama’s head coaching job if he wants it, according to two sources with knowledge of the UA search.”

One of the most interesting parts of the story is the timeline. Alabama is prepared to allow Grant as many as “five days or so” to make a decision, according to the report.

UPDATE: Cecil Hurt writing for the Tuscaloosa News reported that an offer to Grant could be made as early as Wednesday. According to the report, UA officials expect Grant “to visit the Capstone and plan to tender an offer for the vacant UA head men’s basketball coaching job when he is on campus.”

The visit to UA could come tonight or Wednesday, according to Hurt.

  1. Now won’t somebody feel real stupid if they jump the gun with Grant and Mizzou wins the National Championship?
