While everyone is throwing out names of potential replacements for Mal Moore when he retires as Alabama’s athletic director, has anyone considered a possible replacement for SEC commissioner Mike Slive? I have a suggestion, Condoleezza Rice. Rice likes football, was considered for NFL commissioner, and has roots in Birmingham. She spoke to the “NFL family” Sunday, and you can read about it in an AP report (see it embedded below).

As for Rice’s understanding of football, according to the AP, “Rice comes by her football chops naturally. She described how her father was ready for a John Jr., who would become an All-American linebacker when, instead, she was born. She mentioned tossing the coin for the opening of the Tennessee-Alabama game in Tuscaloosa and, after the Crimson Tide won it, quarterback Brodie Croyle saying to her: ‘Nice flip’.”
