Alabama’s Alonzo Gee was named the SEC Player of the Week after averaging 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in games at Florida and against Mississippi State last week. He scored a season-high 28 points to go with 10 rebounds in the double overtime win against MSU Saturday. Gee scored 13 of Alabama’s first 19 points against the Bulldogs and then scored 11 in the overtime sessions. He had 10 of Alabama’s 13 points in the second overtime, including back-to-back three-pointers that gave UA the lead for good. His 17 points against Florida pushed him over the 1,500-career-point mark and he now ranks 13th in school history with 1,534 career points.

Ole Miss’ Murphy Holloway was named SEC Freshman of the Week after he averaged 15.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in wins over Tennessee and Georgia. The rookie forward produced his best SEC game of the season with a career-high 18 points (going 8-of-10 from the field) along with 13 rebounds in an 81-65 win over the Vols. Holloway recorded his third straight double-double with 12 points and 10 boards in a 69-47 victory over the Bulldogs. The energetic leaper has pulled down 42 rebounds in his last four games for an average of 10.5 per outing.
