Former Alabama quarterback Jeff Rutledge was fired by the Arizona Cardinals Tuesday, according to a report from the Arizona Republic. Rutledge spent two years coaching the Cardinals quarterbacks. Rutledge played quarterback for the Crimson Tide from 1977-1978. During his Alabama career he led the Crimson Tide to a national championship with a Sugar Bowl win over Penn State 14-7.

Former Alabama quarterback and Cardinal tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens is a potential choice for the offensive Arizona coordinator position, according to the same report. Kitchens completed his second season coaching tight ends with the Cardinals. Kitchens played quarterback at Alabama from 1995-1997.
