We take a break from our coverage of Kiffingate to provide you some interesting political developments.

Healthcare rationing and new bureaucracy formed
According to a commentary via Bloomberg, Democrats have included a provision in the stimulus bill which would cripple the ability of the elderly to get innovative care, would create a bureaucracy to oversee healthcare rationing and would spend an enormous sum to do it.

According to the column, the stimulus bill creates “the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept ‘hopeless diagnoses’ and ‘forgo experimental treatments,’ and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.”

In other words, if you are old and sick you need to suck it up and die.

The bill doesn’t stop there trying to make our healthcare system less helpful to the sick; it spends large amounts of money.

According to the column, “The bill allocates more funding for this bureaucracy than for the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force combined (90-92, 174-177, 181).”

This is why I’m bullish on China and bearish on the United States. China is reforming while the United States is becoming less market oriented and more socialist.

Forgive me if I don’t want some idiot in Washington telling my doctor (Dr. Mark Ricketts) how he can treat my latest sinus infection.

The political stupidity doesn’t stop there.

GM loots treasury to help South America
General Motors will use federal bailout funds to spend $1 billion on a plant in Brazil. That is right, Brazil, according to this report from the Latin America Herald Tribune.

All the hoopla about saving American jobs as justification for the bailout goes right out the window. The carmaker’s plan to use federal funds out of the country shows the real reason for the bailout—to help an incompetent company against its competent competitors.

Need a sports analogy? Think the NFL. The NFL punishes successful teams by rewarding them with lower draft choices. In the economic reality of today, Michigan is rewarded at the expense of better run companies located in Alabama.

Today, Alabama car companies like Honda, Toyota, Mercedes and Hyundai are punished for making a product people actually want to buy.

It is perverse, but welcome to the new America. You can thank President George W. Bush and President Barack H. Obama.

  1. Well stated. However, I would like to see some more citations to support your contentions.

Nonetheless, the country is going socialist. Why I feel like a Republican in 1931, I don’t know. But, it is evident that the money that is being spent is not going to stimulate the economy one bit. I think we are just seeing the fleecing of the United States citizen. I fear that our country is doomed for mediocrity due to the poor leadership of Bush in his second term and the inexplicable handouts of Obama.

Federal spending on bureaucracies has never, ever created a boom in the overall United States economy. Obama’s New Deal is just an excrement sandwich.

War, the mobilization of all available resources to war industry, and “dominating your opponent to be a champion” in said war leads to economic wealth.

World War II brought the U.S. out of the Great Depression.

Mal Moore’s war on Auburn and his mobilization of all possible resources during his capital campaigns have lead to Alabama’s successes and our break from the doldrums of 2000 to 2006.

The Etas-Unis needs to find an ass to kick and the people in this country need to work for a living and stop expecting the Black White House to bail them out.

  2. The difficult part is finding the dividing line. Life is valuable, but 85 year olds have bypass surgery ($200,000) going through 12 months of rehab and NOT extending their life is tragic. Doctors recommend this type of surgury all the time… Many die on the table… Think of the lady with the 8 babies, she now has 14, no job… We need standards on that also (Europe does)… no more than 2 at a time…

  3. This country is going down the crapper at an unprecedented pace. Socialism is creeping into our live every day, and people sit back and do nothing. The U.S. is still the best thing going, but not anywhere near where she used to be. Its coming people. One world government. One world currency. Biblical prophecy is coming true. I hate to sound like the gloom and doom guy, because there is still a lot of good in this world. Just not ANY in politics. This latest stimulus package is a dam joke. 800 million for a solar plant in Anniston Al. !!!!!!!!! With the hydroelectric capacity we have here in this state , that shouldnt even be considered. * mill for a dam parking deck in Bham!!!!!!! O.K. ???? 8 mill for a freekin Polar Bear exhibit in Rhode Island. Whaattt!!!!! John Mccain just made the point , that if the stimulus was spread world wide, there would be enough money for every one IN THE WORLD to get 1500 bucks. For every job that would be created , it would come at a cost od 650,000 per job !!!!!!!!!!! That is a joke. A sick joke.

Barrack Obama and the democrat senat will be the sart of a downward spiral for this country. Write it down.
