Coffee fights for yards against ClemsonPhoto D. Brown/Southern Sports Media

Alabama Crimson Tide running back Glen Coffee made the cover of Birmingham Christian Family Magazine’s February edition. The story is not available online, but the magazine is available at many area churches, bookstores and supermarkets.

The story provides a glimpse into why Glen Coffee decided to leave Alabama early and enter the NFL draft.

“The closer it got to the end of the season, I felt the Spirit was leading me to leave. By the end of the season, I had my mind made up, and I felt like I needed to trust Him,” Coffee told the magazine.

Coffee also talks about football as a ministry, how a knee injury changed his life and his close relationship with coach Burton Burns.

“(Burton Burns) constantly lets me know that he is prod of the example that I set for other players,” Coffee told the magainze. “He makes sure I know that he sees how Christ has changed my life, and he tells me that I have affected his life in a positive way.”

You can read more in the magazine.

  1. I wanted to put a jab in there about Smiths abscence in the Utah game making up his mind. But after reading the article, its just hard to crack on a kid like this. Hes a good kid. And I just cant do it.

  2. Nothing like a RB who actually *LIKES* to get physical while he carries — unlike Reggie Bush — but anyways I got nothing but mad props for Coffee and I wish him the absolute best in the No Fun League — just one thing though Glen — if you make it to the Super Bowl — say your College and not your High School/JuCo like Townsend and Woodlawn High’s own Dansby aka Kow KolLeGe.

RTR Coffee and good luck!!!! Now we’ll let Ingram kick some a$$!

  3. We’ll miss ya Coffee but hope you the very best. One more year and you may have left with a ring but of course you could still wind up with a Superbowl ring. Good luck
