The Southeastern Conference (SEC) reprimanded Lane Kiffin Thursday following comments that violated SEC Ethics rules. (For more on SEC ethics rules violated by Kiffin click here)

Here is the SEC’s official statement:
BIRMINGHAM — Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive has issued a public reprimand to University of Tennessee head football coach Lane Kiffin for his public comments made earlier today.

“Coach Kiffin has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics,” Slive said. “SEC Bylaw 10.5.1 clearly states that coaches and administrators shall refrain from directed public criticism of other member institutions, their staffs or players.”

“The phone call to which Coach Kiffin referred to in his public comments is not a violation of SEC or NCAA rules. We expect our coaches to have an understanding and knowledge of conference and NCAA rules.”
END OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Kiffin just got slapped for not knowing the rules. Here is a tip for Lane Kiffin: Don’t speak if you don’t know what you are talking about. I wonder what else Mike Slive might have to say to Kiffin.

  1. Good hire Tennessee. What an idiot ! This is the same guy that had the field goal kicker attempt a 70 + yard field goal in the NFL. Actually I mean it….Good Hire Tennessee. This makes it easier for Alabama and Florida.

  3. I can’t wait to hear Lame “Shula” Kiffin’s excuse whenever Meyer, Saban, and Spurrier all beat him by 50+ this year.
