Jeremy Shelley has decided to play football for the Alabama Crimson Tide and coach Nick Saban, according to a report from Palmetto Sports. Shelley will have “preferred walk-on” status with Alabama. He had a similar offer from South Carolina, but decided he preferred playing for Nick Saban.

“I loved everything about it,” Shelley told Palmetto Sports. “Coach (Nick) Saban and his coaching staff were awesome. Coach Saban is a really nice guy but he is serious when it comes to football. That’s what I liked about him most.”

Shelley’s career kicking record is 105 of 119 PATs and 26 of 37 field goals. His career long field goal was 50-yards; he notched 37 touchbacks during his career, according to stats on Kicking.com. Shelley punted 18 times for an average of 43.5 yards. He was academic all-conference in 2006 and 2007.
