Spurrier banned from recruiting high school

W hat is going on over at South Carolina? First Steve Spurrier is reportedly running off upperclassmen non-starters, and now he gets banned from recruiting a school. Spurrier was banned because the Gamecocks yanked a scholarship offer from a commitment, according to the AJC.

I’m not a fan of school’s banning college programs; it hurts the students more than the colleges or the college coaches. But the negative stories surrounding Spurrier are interesting. With mediocrity on the field, negative stories filtering out about Spurrier’s management of the Gamecock program and this negative recruiting story, is the pressure on Spurrier to win or else in 2009?

Spurrier has to be on the Hot Seat for the coming season. You can only live on the past for so long.
I say this with an heavy heart because I know that the local suck ass media loves that old ball coach and will prop him up.
