Offense: Ole Miss is averaging 29.2 ppg and 382.2 yards per game. Jevan Snead has completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 1,272 yards and nine touchdowns with nine interceptions. His favorite target is Shay Hodge who is averaging 21.9 yards per reception and has four touchdowns. Running back Brandon Bolden as 55 carries for 297 yards and a pair of touchdowns behind an offensive line led by left tackle Michael Oher. Oher is an All-American and “arguably one of the best offensive linemen in the country” Saban said.

Many Alabama players know what a Houston Nutt team will do on offense, “He’s got a lot of gimmicks,” said linebacker Cory Reamer. Head Coach Nick Saban said “Obviously, their wildcat stuff, or whatever you want to call it, is something that is uniquely different and we did spend a little time on that.” Dexter McCluster is the most dangerous weapon for the Rebels McCluster is fourth in the SEC in receiving yards per game (68.5 ypg) and seventh in receptions (4.2 per game).

Defense: The Ole Miss defense is lead by defense end Greg Hardy who last year against Alabama had 13 tackles – 4.5 for a loss – with three sacks, two forced fumbles and two quarterback hurries. So far this season opponents are scoring 24.7 ppg while gaining 341.5 total ypg. The pass defense is a weak point for the Rebels having allowed nine touchdowns with only three interceptions so far this season “Everyone associated with the program knew Ole Miss’ secondary would be a weak link, and it has been” said Neal McCready of Rebelsports.net. The run defense is a different story only allowing 3.0 yards per carry.

Special Teams: Ole Miss has won games with its special teams play, beating Florida off a blocked extra point. The Rebels are averaging 22.5 yards on kick returns and Mike Wallace had a 98-yard kickoff return against Vanderbilt.

The Series: Alabama owns the series 44-9-2. Alabama has won 18 of the last 21 meetings, including four straight. Alabama won last year in Oxford 27-24. The last three games have been decided in the final minute.

  1. I hate to say this, but I’ve been saying this throughout the entire offseason: Ole Miss is going to be one of the most improved teams in the West and I picked them to be our upset game of the year.

I hope I’m wrong, but you guys had better believe I’m very nervous about this game. I’ll see how it plays out between the two Saturday, I guess.

  2. Ole Miss is the most dangerous team left on the schedule. BAMA will not see another offense with this many weapons during the regular season, and BAMA will not play a better front four on defense no matter how far this season goes. A victory Saturday should all but seal the deal in the West.

Should BAMA man handle Ole Miss, go ahead an order your tickets and place you reservations.

  3. This is a key game. I look for Bama to show some intensity much like the beginning of the year. If they can’t find it this week, they are in danger of sliding at the end of the year again.

  4. I agree with your posts. Ole Miss is pretty darned good and Nutt always finds a way to give Bama fits. I think it’s going to be a smash mouth game but I do think we survive this one. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if we look sloppy in part to Ole Miss being prepared.

Look on the bright side. At least we have a physical front on both sides of the ball and should be favored, unlike the barn powder puff crew.

  5. Ballplay: Even with two black eyes, knots on your head and busted teeth, you still keep hoping. I didn’t realize how much of Auburn psyche is determined on where Bama stands. It is showing this year though. It has affected your coach apparently. Did you hear that reporter ask him yesterday what he thought about what Saban is doing at Bama? Hilarious. Where was his smart-ass comments there? He had plenty before the season started. He didn’t even hold his fingers up.

  6. Brando,

Isn’t it great to be a Bama fan??? Outstanding would be better. Ignore the barners and let them wallow in their mire.

  7. Ed: I think it is fun to jab back at them. But what I am really enjoying is seeing that smugness leave Tubbs. I bet by the end of the year he won’t even care if they win. He and his wife are probably already deciding how to spend that $6 million.

  8. Brando,

You hit the nail on the head about Tubby. He’s going to come out smelling like a rose and leave the barn in a tailspin if he wants. He can’t lose. I believe I could make it on 6 million clams. I just hope he does continue the downward spiral. Of course his recruiting class has pretty much done that.

  9. Do not see us having a problem with this team but maybe for first quarter.then its lights out as JULIO i think has a big game. Pass defense for MISS is very weak and JPW will expose it if COFFEE and company have a hard time running.I think we come back strong and make a big statement.TENN game is the one i am leary of.GOD BLESS ROLLLLLLLLL/////TIDEEEEEEEEEE

  10. Balled – Played – damn – The Mama Cat has licked your head too much.
My concerns about this game is the obvious – special team play has been a big problem and exploitable – they are not coming down here on their yellow school buss’ to get their ass stomped with a week off.
This is the signature for the Team. Take care of business and make the line to keep us in the big picture. Gene Stallings Football is not going to get it anymore now .

  11. The last three games against Ole Mistress have came down to the last second, but we’ve managed to win all three. I hope this year we get another win because this will be the best Ole Miss team we’ve faced since the Cutcliffe/Manning days.

  12. No way in hell rebels win this game jpw will have a field day with this defense.rebel defense is not as good as last year.florida was not prepared and over looked rebels gave game away.bama defense will shut this team down and we win by 17.
