I guess Alabama fans like to text. Here’s the press release.
DALLAS—University of Alabama senior quarterback John Parker Wilson has been named the AT&T All-America Player of the Week, the only major college football award chosen exclusively by fans. Wilson received more than 16,000 votes this week.

Wilson claimed the honor after the Crimson Tide’s 41-30 win over Georgia last week. Wilson led the Tide to victory as he went 13 for 16 for 205 yards and a touchdown. He received 40 percent of the votes to beat out Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rogers (23 percent), Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford (21 percent) and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy (16 percent). All four players were nominated by ESPN for this week’s award bases on their outstanding performances last weekend.

“AT&T congratulates John Parker for his tremendous performance for the Alabama football team last week, and we wish him the best of luck throughout the season,” said Tim McGhee, executive director of national sponsorships for AT&T’s wireless unit. “College football draws the most passionate fans, and this award gives them the chance to select the AT&T All-America Player of the Week all season long.”

In December, four finalists for the AT&T All-America Player of the Year Award will be announced during a one-hour special on ESPN in conjunction with the announcement of the AT&T ESPN All-America Team as selected by the Football Writers Association of America. Fans will then get a chance to say who the best player in the nation is by voting for the AT&T All-America Player of the Year through the BCS. Voting ends at noon ET on Jan. 6, and the winner will be announced during the BCS National Championship game on FOX on Jan. 9.
