How good is Julio Jones? So good he is leading the Tide in receptions. He has 10 for 107 yards and two touchdowns. His performance last week earned him the SEC Freshman Player of the Week honors.

The catches show he has been consistently involved in the offense, and what doesn’t show up in the stat column—he is making blocks down the field. In the Clemson game, Julio was most effective while blocking. His frame makes him a handful for defensive backs.

With SEC play beginning it is time to see if he’ll step up his game.

Julio’s 107 receiving yards on 10 catchs is followed by Nick Walkers 11 catches for 96 yards. Walker also has two touchdowns.

Glen Coffee and Mark Ingram are also having nice years through three games. Coffee is averaging 6.5 yards per carry with a total of 242 yards on the season. Ingram is averaging 5.7 yards per carry with a total of 210 yards. Coffee is averaging just over 80 yards per game and Ingram is averaging 70 yards per game. This means the Tide’s total running back stable including Roy Upchurch, Terry Grant, Demetrius Goode and John Parker Wilson have averaged 206 yards per game.

  9. tmc,

You bammers make me laugh with your maniacal worship of Saban and Julio. For the record, Julio hasn’t gone up against a decent defense yet. Try to contain your disappointment when you find out he’s a mere mortal.
