  1. I pretty much think the transition is going to kill his already dying career. It’s way too late in the game for a guy of Favre’s caliber to switch teams, after years and years of speculation on whether he’ll retire or not. He’s still highly regarded as one of the best QB’s in the league, but after this, you can bank on his stock dropping immensely.

  2. NYC….You cant blame the guy for doing what he loves…Brett Favre is one of those rare athletes who does what he does, because he loves it…I really dont think hes in it for money, hes already got enough, For fame either , as he has enough of that..He just does it because he loves the game. IMO. If he wants to go elsewhere, hey, its his business. New York is dang lucky to be getting him. Lets not pretend that these NFL franchises are being victimized in any way. Its high time someone stuck it to them , IMO.

I hope he wins another superbowl at New York.

Do you ever go to any pro games?

  3. You gotta do what you gotta do.
As long as he’s happy we can’t blame him for the decisions he makes to better his life.

  4. This is fascinating news. It is certainly better than talking recruiting in August. Here’s a news flash: there’s other sports out there other than SEC Football. Shocking I know.

  5. Everone needs to tell all the young boys and girls that’s wearing the #4 jersey that it is a business not a game.

  6. hate to lay it on you guys like this, favre’s another aging star who couldn’t let go and leave his legacy intact.

when he came back from retirement and caught lightning in a bottle last year he beat tremendous odds. in the nfc championship eli manning looked like he had no concept of the 4 degree below zero weather he was playing in and favre looked cold and tired. on his home field.

now he’s in the same division with the pats. and he’s put his successor at green bay in a no-win situation.

i’m not saying he can’t be successful. just that the odds are awfully high. and if it doesn’t work out, he fades away looking like many sad examples before him.

no, he’s not thinking about money or fame. it’s worse than that. he’s thinking about no one but himself. sad.

not everyone can be john elway. just ask dan marino or joe montana.

  7. You’re goddamned right Montana isn’t Elway. He actually ALWAYS performed at the highest level in the biggest games & wasn’t a choke artist.

  8. Well, if I had to spend the rest of my life in Hattiesburg I’d probably be looking for a way out, too.

But seriously, Favre is a jerk. He has behaved like a total idiot throughout this situation. He has an over-inflated sense of his athletic abilities at his advanced age. And he will find NY to be a MUCH tougher environment than Green Bay.
