Senior Jonathan Lowe was not invited to fall camp, and is not on the 105-man roster.

“We didn’t invite him back to fall camp,” Alabama head football coach Nick Saban said. “He didn’t stay here this summer, and didn’t workout, but we had several other players that didn’t do that. But, we just felt like these are the guys we needed to invite to camp. So, we just made a decision to move on.”

It is unclear if Lowe would rejoin the team once classes begin later in August. Saban said he had not discussed this possibility with Lowe.

Lowe appeared in 10 games last season, and is a second generation Tide player. His father, Eddie played for Coach Paul Bryant. His uncle Woodrow Lowe was a three-time consensus All-American.

Will Lowe be on the team? I wouldn’t hold my breath.

  1. I don’t know anything.

I’m just basing it on Saban’s reaction, and Saban’s statement he hadn’t talked with Lowe so he didn’t even know if the guy would show up for classes when the semester starts.

Hard to know, but I don’t think Saban was impressed with Lowe.

  2. What a blow?!?!?! I hope he’s invited back because we sure as hell need him that’s for sure! I don’t understand what Saban wasn’t impressed with, unless it was off the field issues. Other than that, this is a guy I’d want back if I was him.

  3. That thar $atin is throwin them thar players infrunt of the oncomin trafik down thar aint he. Tomyy Tubbervil wood never do nuthin like that
    !!!

  4. I read another article where he’s already in T-Town, he just hasn’t showed up to practice, however he wants to remain on the team.

They claimed he went home over the summer to that little run down town right outside of Aubarn, to work.

I surely hope he’s allowed back on the team because we can’t afford to lose him at this point and time.

  5. I was hoping Lowe would do most of the punt-return run-back duties and kepp Javy on defence only. We don’t want to take a chance and get Javy injured since he is so valuable on defence. I hope that now falls to Maze.

  6. Javier is one gifted punt returner. I hate we lost him at the end of the season because he served a vital role in the LSU game.
He’s a more versatile version of Tyrone Prothro. I wonder why we haven’t moved him to wide receiver or running back?
I’d rather have him at punt returner than Lowe.

  7. I concur with your response, LCN.

Arenas is a sleeping giant and he was on track to having a breakout season, before his ankle injury during the LSU game, I believe that’s when it occurred.

Lowe was slightly average, and his role at running back really wasn’t key either. We do need the depth, however, so I’m not against him returning. But I wouldn’t want him to take the rightful position of Javier Arenas where he’s more needed than Lowe is.
