UA Press rejected former judge’s book on Cottrell case

Judge Steve Wilson is now shopping it to other publishers, according to the Associated Press. UA Press cited the book’s subjective analysis as a reason it refused to publish the book.

“The approach he took was valid but did not meet the requirements that we have for works of history,” said Don Ross, director and editor-in-chief for Alabama Press. Wilson’s analysis “was a very subjective one, which is understandable since he was one of the principles in the case, but we’re looking for things that are more objective.”

Wilson claims his book isn’t meant to shock anyone, but to “enlighten.”

“I don’t see it as a bombshell, because a lot of what I say in the book has been in the public,” he said. “I think it’s going to put a lot of things together and put a lot of things in perspective that you’ll be able see the forest without getting hung up in the trees.”

However in a May 22 letter to the editor of the Tuscaloosa News, Wilson promised a few “surprises.” Wilson also alleged a conspiracy between the late Logan Young, the plaintiffs in the case and the Tuscaloosa News.

I’d call the conspiracy allegation a bombshell.

  1. The UA Press was never seriously going to consider publishing that book. He’ll get it published by someone (or do it himself).

  2. I thought FineScum was going to write a book about bama taking down the NCAA. What happened? I know he had his nose up all the lawyers butt during that time.

  3. That trial, if you can call it that, was a joke from the beginning. To think that any of the defendants were going to get a fair trial in Tuscaloosa is hilarious. Like saying an American would get a fair trial in communist China for subversion.

This judge will continue to be vilified by the Bammers cause he didn’t knuckle under. Bet he would have if Satan would have been in town. Just “part of the process”. He’ll get the book published. Bet someone in Lee County would do it!
