Let’s talk about Auburn football

@3:55 p.m. on the Paul Finebaum Radio show, an Auburn fan calls and says he wanted to talk about Auburn football. And I’m sure you can guess his next comments.

Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban… Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban… Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban… Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban… Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban… Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban… Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban… Nick Saban…Nick Saban…Nick Saban…

Yeah, Auburn fans aren’t afraid of Alabama or Nick Saban. They are as obsessed with Saban and Alabama as a high schooler is obsessed with sex.

Why even think about Saban if there isn’t something to worry about?

Unfortunately, I know a few Auburn fans. The ones close to Auburn are the least obnoxious. But it is the street fans, the ones who call talk radio who are insufferable.

Speaking of Finebaum’s show
It really is the best sports radio program in the state. You can always find something to make the blood boil, drive you crazy or force a d’oh moment. As I write this missive about Auburn’s obsession with Saban, Shane from Centerpoint has called in and said basketball doesn’t matter because Alabama is a football school.

That type of thinking is what hired and kept David Hobbs.

Excellence at everything should be the goal of UA. We shouldn’t accept mediocrity in our basketball program, business school or anything. Period.
