Getting to know more about Star Jackson

One of the most interesting recruits for Alabama’s future is a top quarterback from Florida—Star Jackson.

Jackson has 4.4 speed, good mobility and a great touch on the football.

So what does that make Jackson? A dual-threat quarterback?

The Times Daily explored that in an article today.

“A lot of people think because he runs well, he’s a dual-threat quarterback,” (Jackson’s high school coach Errick) Lowe said. “I never saw that.

“Can he get out there and run away from somebody? Of course. Is he a Pat White? No. But is he a 4.4 40 guy? Heck yeah.”

Watching film of Jackson, one will find more touch passes than touchdown runs.

Jackson is rated a four-star by Scout.com and Rivals.com. The Scout.com player evaluation provides this summary: Jackson is a quarterback with a great feel for the game. He is very good at sensing the rush and adjusts quickly to either bail or use his quick release to get rid of the ball. Very good at locating open receivers on the run outside the pocket and has great touch on the ball inside 25 yards. Stands tall in the pocket and reads quickly. Tendency to hop forward when throwing to get more velocity on the ball and could have a higher release.

Rivals said Jackson has one of the most accurate arms of any quarterback available this year.

Jackson’s coach said the quarterback is the best pro-style quarterback coming out of Florida.

Scout’s Jamie Newburg told the Times Daily: “He’s a pro-style quarterback with athletic ability, He can pretty much run any system. Alabama was looking for a guy who can run and throw, and they got it.”

The evaluations all seem to point to a smart signal caller, who is interested in doing what it takes to succeed.
