The problem? Neither Cal nor any other program offered the lineman, according ot the Reno Gazette-Journal.

A law enforcement investigation is underway, as are a host of other investigations apparently including the NCAA: “The NCAA is involved because Cal and Oregon are involved,” said NIAA executive director Eddie Bonine, who has been kept abreast of the situation by Lyon County School District Assistant Superintendent Teri White. “It could be that someone was impersonating those schools.”

Why would anyone impersonate the schools? Could it be some type of cruel joke? Or worse?

  1. Could it be that this kid is behind this to try and force an offer where he wanted to go to school? If you are not getting the offers you want, create a rivalry to try and get one at least from someone. You hate to think like this but stranger things have happened.
