The UA Board of Trustees is expected to approve Nick Saban’s contract at its meeting today. The contract would make Saban the highest paid coach in college football history.

“We worked together to complete this agreement even as we proceeded with recruiting, spring football practice and adjustments in the coaching staff, and we are pleased that it has been finalized,” Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore said in a statement released by the university.

I remain concerned about the difficulty everyone has in dealing with Alabama’s athletic department.

It isn’t normal, despite what UA people say, for a contract to take so long to finalize. Even with Saban’s busy schedule, this contract is another example of a dysfunctional Athletic Department, led about by those who make poor decisions.

Whether it was the incompetence associated with the Franchione contract, or the lawsuit against Daniel Moore—something remains wrong in Tuscaloosa.
