W ith the 2007 basketball season a disappointment, Alabama basketball coach Mike Gottfried had made staff changes. With Tom Asbury out, Gottfried appointed Jeff Dunlap as director of basketball operations. He promoted Kobie Bker to assistant coach and gave more responsibilities to assistant coaches Philipo Pearson and James Holland, the Tuscaloosa News reported.

Perhaps I’m missing something, but I’m not amazed by these changes. Does anything in this shuffling lead anyone to believe the Crimson Tide’s toughness and intensity would be better next season? I could be wrong, and this is just a first glance at the changes, but I’m not expecting anything of next year’s team.

Who knows…maybe my attitude will improve as I take a closer look at the adjustments.
